If you are using this software under Windows 95/98/NT, then you must make sure that the following settings are enabled/disabled for all CDROM readers and recorders on your system... WINDOWS 95/98 DEVICE SETTINGS 1) Open the "Control Panel" folder and click on the "System" icon. 2) Select the "Device Manager" tab. 3) Click on the CDROM icon 4) For each CDROM device in the list... Select the device. Select the "Settings" tab. Enable the "Disconnect" option. Enable the "Sync Data Transfer" option. Disable the "Auto Insert Notification" option. Disable the "DMA" option (if available). Click on "OK" WINDOWS NT DEVICE SETTINGS You must make sure that "Auto Insert Notification" is disabled. You can disable it by setting the following value in the system registry... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Cdrom/Autorun=0 ************************************************************************** WINDOWS 95/98 ASPI DRIVERS If you have an Adaptec SCSI card or "Easy CD Creator" installed on your system, but are unable to run our software under Windows 95/98, then download and install the latest drivers from Adaptec's FTP site... ftp://ftp.adaptec.com/software_pc/ez_scsi/win95mpd.exe ftp://ftp.adaptec.com/software_pc/aspi/aspi32.exe If you do *not* have an Adaptec product installed on your system, but wish to use an ATAPI/IDE CDROM drive or recorder, then you can find information on the required ASPI drivers at the following web site... http://www.ncf.carleton.ca/~aa571/aspi.htm The following files will be installed/updated on your system... WINNT40\SYSTEM\WINASPI.DLL WINNT40\SYSTEM\WOWPOST.EXE WINNT40\SYSTEM32\WNASPI32.DLL WINNT40\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ASPI32.SYS You must also make sure that you have the proper ATAPI device driver and that is is being started on your system at bootup... 1) Open the "Control Panel" folder and click on the "Devices" icon. 2) Find the ATAPI entry in the device driver list. 3) If the status is NOT set to "Started", then highlight the ATAPI entry and click on the "Startup..." button. Select either the "Boot", "System", or "Automatic" option. WARNING: The ATAPI.SYS driver under NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 has a bug that prevents our software from operating correctly with ATAPI CDROM devices. Note: Service Packs 4 and later do not have this problem. ************************************************************************** COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER SOFTWARE WARNING: Many people have reported that installing the software package "WinOnCD" will cause CDRWIN to stop working. WinOnCD seems to install drivers that are not compatible with our software. If you wish to use CDRWIN, then you will have to uninstall WinOnCD or remove the following files from your "WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS" directory... C2APIX.VXD C2REC.VXD WARNING: Installing other CD-R software products (such as Adaptec's Easy CD Creator) could change the "Auto Insert Notification" setting back to enabled. If this happens, then you must change this setting back to disabled.
