To use any IDE or USB based CDROM drive or recorder with our software, you must have the necessary drivers installed on your system that support these devices. Please download and test the demonstration version of our software to see if it already recognizes your devices. If it does, then you do not need any additional drivers. If your IDE/USB devices are not recognized or do not work properly, then you will have to update your drivers as specified below.

Supported Operating Systems

  • IDE/USB CDROM devices are supported under Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000

  • The 32-bit DOS version also supports IDE/USB CDROM devices.

  • The 16-bit DOS version does not support IDE/USB CDROM devices (and never will).

If you wish to use ATAPI devices with either of the above drivers, then you must use the Windows registry editor (regedit.exe) to modify the value of the "ExcludeMiniports" key under the following registry node. NOTE: Versions 3.8E and higher of CDRWIN make this change for you automatically during the installation procedure.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AspiXNT\Parameters

If ExcludeMiniports="" then ATAPI devices are enabled.
If ExcludeMiniports="ATAPI", then ATAPI devices are disabled.

Compaq Corporation has ASPI drivers available for Windows NT/ALPHA.

You must also make sure that the ATAPI device driver is being started on your system at bootup...

  1. Open the "Control Panel" and click on the "Devices" icon.

  2. Find the ATAPI entry in the device driver list.

  3. If the status is not set to "Started", then highlight the ATAPI entry and click on the "Startup..." button. Select either the "Boot", "System", or "Automatic" option.
